Introduction: Nursing students' inadequate familiarization with the field can lead to dropping out. Developing an educational package for new nursing students to use in an introductory course can help reduce challenges. This study endeavored to develop an educational package for the orientation of new nursing students for the implementation of a course named Rooyesh.
Methods: This study was conducted based on the ADDIE model in the academic years 2023-2024 in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, and reports the Analysis, Design, and Development of the educational package for the Rooyesh course. Responses were analyzed to determine the topics of the educational package. In the design phase, focus group interviews were conducted to determine the goals of the course and the data were analyzed. In so doing, MAXQDA was used to manage qualitative data. In the content development stage, multimedia content was compiled based on extracted topics. This way, the training package was finalized after summarizing.
Results: In analyzing the responses, six main themes were extracted from the qualitative content analysis of the interviews, which became a guide for determining the general topics of the educational package. Then, by completing a researcher-made questionnaire, nursing students, and professors expressed their opinions about the titles and features of the package. The analysis of the data gathered from focus-group interview in the design stage ushered in the determination of learning goals in the cognitive and attitudinal fields as well as the dominant learning theory of the growth course. In the development stage, 28 titles achieved for the educational package.
Conclusion: The educational package can help students in goal-setting, forecasting, and personal and professional improvement during the four years of bachelor's program for the students of nursing.
