Revising the theoretical, practical, and workshop evaluation checklists of the dental school at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences

Introduction: Given the importance of evaluation and the need to use the appropriate instrumentation to evaluate the educational courses, the aim of this study was to revises the course evaluation forms of dental school regarding the nature of this field.
Methods: This quantitative-qualitative study was conducted in the academic years 2019-2020 in the school of dentistry of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. Four evaluation forms of theoretical, practical, clinical, and workshop courses were distributed among the faculty members of the school. After completing by 48 members of the panel, the collected data were analyzed using mean, mode, and CVI (Content Validity Index) calculation. In the second round of Delphi, with the formation of a virtual group and the invitation of the faculty members of the panel, the items with lower median and CVI scores were discussed and the proposed revisions were undertaken.
Results: Most changes were made to the practical training forms. The forms of theoretical courses were classified in four areas including planning, content and resources, course presentation as well as evaluation with 18 items. Clinical and practical forms were categorized into four areas of planning, learning methods, facilities and space, evaluation and outcomes. For clinical and practical forms, 16 and 12 questions were finally developed. Evaluation forms of workshop courses were developed and approved by panel members based on the available workshop forms in the Educational Development Center without any additional revision.
Conclusion: The evaluation forms previously used in the dental school had content and writing problems which were revised based on the consensus opinion of faculty members. |
