Introduction: Nurses play a significant role in improving the performance of hospital and promoting the health level of society. The concern about the preparation of newly arrived nurses due to the inadequacy of professional nursing education has been considered. The study endeavored to design a training package for familiarization, memory, and empowerment of newly arrived nurses in Baqyatallah hospital.

Methods: The study was conducted based on the ADDIE model in the academic year 2023 based on five stages as follows: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In the analysis stage, first, needs assessment was collected and summarized in several consultation meetings with experts to confirm the necessity of developing a training package for new nurses. In the design phase, the Delphi method was used to determine the titles of the educational package and ask for opinions from experts. In the content development stage, various validation sources were employed in the educational package regarding the proposed topics. Finally, after summarizing the materials, the training package for newly arrived nurses was finalized.

Results: Based on the opinion of experts, 39 of the 59 titles were included in the final educational package. Among the important things are the standard of delivery of patients (ISBAR), medication integration, the process of teaching the correct way of blood transfusion, instructions for safe discharge, observing hand hygiene, correct and active identification of patients, care, and prevention of falls, bedsores, and thromboembolism in patients, proper medication, occupational exposure prevention and instructions, standard precautions and isolation and syndromic system, so on.

Conclusion: The educational package designed, which is based on the real and perceived needs of nurses, as well as based on the consensus of nurses and experts, can play an effective role in improving the professional capabilities of newly arrived nurses.
