The purpose of this study was to investigate the study skills and habits of students in Birjand University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on a random sample of 238 students of Birjand University of Medical Sciences in 2011. Data was collected using Palsane & Shrama Study Habit Inventory Questionnaire (PSSHI) and demographic characteristics. Spearman correlation coefficient, t-test for independent groups, ANOVA, and Tukey test were used for data analysis. Results: The mean score (±SD) of the students’ study habits was 45.07 (±7.81) out of 90 (maximum score). 32.8 % of the students had poor study habits, 31.1% average, 14.3% good, and 21.8 % had excellent study habits.
